Matthijs Geneste, CEO Designate, Transparent Markets Europe

Matthijs Geneste joined Etrading Software in 2025 as Head of European Regulatory Data Services out of the Amsterdam office. He is now CEO Designate for Transparent Markets Europe, where he is driving a landmark initiative to enhance derivative market transparency across Europe.

Matthijs is a seasoned leader in European financial regulation and market infrastructure, bringing over 15 years of experience across capital markets, public policy, and regulatory strategy. With a career spanning (OTC) derivatives, equities and fixed income, he has advised and collaborated with EU institutions, national regulators, and industry stakeholders at the highest levels.

Before joining his current role with ETS as Head of European Regulatory Data Services, he served at the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), focusing on fixed income market structure and the MiFIR Review, and contributed to key European technical and policy forums. Earlier roles include Global Coordinator of Regulatory Affairs at ABN AMRO Clearing Bank and regulatory consultant for MiFID II and EMIR implementations. Matthijs began his career as a strategy consultant with Booz & Company in London and holds degrees in History and Public International Law from Leiden University.
