Bilal Hafeez, Founder & CEO, Macrohive Ltd

Bilal Hafeez is the Founder/CEO and Managing Director of Macro Hive, a leading independent strategy and AI analytics firm acquired by BGC Group in October 2025. He continues to lead the strategy and AI efforts in his current role.

Prior to founding Macro Hive, Bilal served as Global Head of International Fixed Income Strategy at Nomura (2016-2019). Before that, he held senior roles at Deutsche Bank (2002-2015), including Head of Multi-Asset Research, Advisor to the CEO, Head of Asia Research in Singapore, and Global Head of Foreign Exchange Research. Bilal began his career at J.P. Morgan in 1998.

During his sell-side career, Bilal was ranked #1 market strategist by Euromoney and Institutional Investor for most years between 2004 and 2013. He also invented the first ever FX investment and smart beta benchmarks.

Bilal hosts the weekly podcast Macro Hive Conversations, which has been downloaded over 1 million times and featured prominent guests including Carlyle Group Chairman David Rubenstein, former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, and Lord Mervyn King.

Academically, Bilal is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Cambridge and regularly lectures at Harvard and MIT. He studied Economics at St John’s College, Cambridge.

Bilal lives with his family, six cats, six chickens, a beehive, and one dog.
